In 2014, St Thomas More's Catholic Primary School was awarded Teaching School status with the aim of bringing schools together to help improve children’s learning through shared practice and professional development.

In partnership with a number of local schools, we have established ourselves as

Priory Street Teaching School Alliance’.

Initial Teacher Training

The Alliance offers different routes into teaching in a Primary School. This year we have 13 trainees placed across Essex.

Continuous Professional Development

We will be developing courses over the year to enhance teaching and learning.

School to School Support

The Alliance provides continual school to school support for both member schools as well as those schools outside the Alliance. Currently four of our Headteachers are delivering the Aspire programme.

Leadership Development

Professional leadership programmes run by the Alliance enable experienced teachers to develop their leadership skills. We have two SLEs in school for literacy and assessment.

Research & Development

Our Alliance plans to carry out research in our schools.
