Dear Parent
We are getting more and more Christmassy by the day! The Christmas tree is up and carols are being sung throughout the school! Advent begins on Sunday and as always Christmas will quickly follow!

Football Kit
A huge, huge, huge thanks to Mr & Mrs Dunne for generously sourcing and financing a new football kit for the school.  We all love them and they will be very well used!  Thank you

Children in Need
The money just keeps coming in! Thank you very much for your generosity. This year we have had many, many children taking it upon themselves to do something extra. Year 5 & 6 held a sponsored silence which raised £108. Annie Salthouse continued her silence into Saturday and got an extra £50! Other initiatives included a “Guess the Cake” competition which raised £22.

Bug Hotel!
It was the turn of Y2 & 4 to have a half day each with Mrs Lavelle on Wednesday. They are making a Bug Hotel...fancy a room? A report from Luke Brady and Maiana Souza
“We went out with Mrs Lavelle and we saw Reception’s wildlife hotel and we decided to build one too.  We got some soil from the wildlife area and put it around a pallet to make the hotel, next time we are going to make it bigger.
When it’s bedtime the spiders might come and live in it.”

Chicken Pox
We have had a case of suspected Chicken Pox this week in Year 2.  Watch out for those spots!

Nits
Please check through your child’s hair at the weekend as there have been a few more cases in the school. It is good policy to check weekly as they can easily go unnoticed!

Post Box
The Christmas post box will be put up for 1 December. Children should take the cards into class and the teachers will give them time to visit the post box. Please make sure all cards have classes on them.

Year 3 Visit
Year 3 went to Colchester Castle on Thursday to spend some time in the dungeons (and other bits of the castle).

A report from John Magill and Madeleine Claydon. “We went down steps to the Foundations of the Castle each step was a thousand years so we went back 2100 years.  They told us about how the Romans and Celts lived and we saw loads of photos of what is was like.  We split up into two groups – Celts and Romans, and we pretended to fight each other and the Romans won.

Year 5 & 6 took part in a multi faith day yesterday at the town hall. There was lots of singing and dancing and they got to visit the Synagogue and the Buddhist Temple.
A report from Ewan Waters and Thomas Jackson “We went to the Town Hall and did dancing in circles holding hands and we sang a song.  Then we went to the Buddhist temple and talked about being a Buddhist and what it means to them.  They taught us two types of meditating, they had a metal bowl which they tapped to show the start of mediating and then he banged it again at the end.  It was very peaceful and quiet and a good way to let your feelings out.”

The PTA will be selling the school calendars in the playground after school again next week. They will also be available to buy at the nativity. If you would like to order one and don’t make it to the playground you can send in payment in an envelope marked for the attention of Ms Jones.
