Dear Parent

Thank you all for supporting the recent PTA BBQ. As ever it proved to be a really enjoyable evening and as a bonus... it didn’t rain! A really big thank you goes to our wonderful PTA for all their hard work over the year. Their efforts benefit all the children in the school.

We finish Friday for the long summer break and return Tuesday 6 September.  New Reception intake return Wednesday 7 September.

I would like to thank staff, children and Governors for all their hard work over the past year to ensure that our school goes from strength to strength.

Baby News

Here’s hoping!!!!!!

Goodbye

We say goodbye to Mrs O’Shea as she takes up a permanent post at a local school. Mrs O’Shea has been a great addition to the team over the last 2 years and we will miss her in the school.

We also say a temporary farewell to Mrs Banthorpe as she begins her maternity leave. Let’s hope that baby Banthorpe will be a little more eager to meet us all than baby Saker. But not before August 31st!  We will miss Mrs Banthorpe in the classroom, with the reading recovery and in the management meetings.

Year 6 Production

Thank you so much to our wonderful Year 6 pupils for a brilliant performance on Wednesday night of Wicked of Oz. They were a delight to watch! I am sure parents were just as proud as we were. Thank you also to the choir for supporting them so well and to Colbridge Videography for filming all the leavers’ events. You can order your DVD from Mr and Mrs Beattie for £12

Leavers’ Mass

My thanks to Mgr George Stokes for celebrating Mass here for us in Fr Tony’s absence.  It was a lovely celebration of their time here at St Thomas More’s. We will miss our Y6 and their families who have been part of the school for so long.

Colchester in Bloom

We won!!!!! We won the KS1 Containers and Pots category and were commended in the KS2 category.  Well done to all classes for their participation and hard work it all paid off. Thank you to Mrs Hayes, Mrs Lavelle, the Gardening Club, all our children, staff and parent helpers...same time next year?

School Council

The school council raised £38 at the summer BBQ on their “Guess the number of sweets in a jar” and “Find the Pirate treasure” stalls.  Mrs Bolger would like to thank all the school council members for their hard work over the year.

Music Lessons

Parents of any child not wishing to continue with music lessons in the autumn term must let the office know in writing by Friday 9 September.  Invoices will be sent out at the start of next term.

Table Top Toys

Tomorrow will be a table top toy day. Children may therefore bring in quiet activities which can be played at a desk.

Dinner Menu

Menu for next half term went home today or was attached to your parentmail.

PTA Cocktail Party - Saturday 16th of July, 7.30 - Midnight at the Minories Love Cafe

Thank you to everyone who has bought a ticket for the Cocktail Party on Saturday night. We are expecting around 70 people to attend the event. The Minories Love Cafe is making extra food for the event therefore tickets can also be purchased on the night, with food included. The entrance to the event is accessed from Church Street (not East Hill entrance as the gallery will be closed). The doors will open at 7.30pm and the band will start at 8pm. Food will be served at the first break 8.45pm - vegetable curry or meat chilli. Dress as you like for the event.
Look forward to seeing you there.

 Finally...

I would like to thank all the parents for their ongoing support throughout the year. This really is a lovely school to be in and you help to make it that way.

Have a great summer!

Best wishes

Message From Ms Jones Chair PTA
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported the BBQ last Friday.  We made around £1300 which is fantastic.  This could not have been possible without an army of help and support…. So many people rallied on the night.  Thank you to Mrs Harris and the team of staff who ran the bar and other stalls, Tim Saunders and his BBQ army, Danny Ferdinand for organising the bouncy castle, Mr Pike for the music and Mr Dunne for the Colchester United tickets and signed football shirt and everyone else who helped or donated a raffle prize.  Special thanks to Sarah Pavey, Sara Pembroke and Toni Saunders for all their help and support and hard work throughout the year.
