Dear Parent

Please be careful dropping off and picking up as we have had a report of a man in his 50s lurking around at St. James’. If your child walks alone just remind him or her about what to do if approached.

It’s our annual PTA BBQ tonight at the school and it promises to be a great family evening. I look forward to serving you at the bar!

Changeover Day

The children all got to spend some time in their new classrooms with their new teachers on Monday.

Reports

Children have been sent home with their end of year reports today. This will include assessment levels for all years and National Assessment Data for Reception, Year 2 and Year 6. An average pupil will achieve Level 2 in Year 2 and Level 4 in Year 6.

SATs Results

Once again we were extremely pleased with the results of the Y6 SATs. The children achieved 100% Level 4 and above in Reading, English and Maths and 97% in Writing. Well done Year 6.  All very exciting but not enough to start baby Saker off yet!

Guitars Needed!!

Children who learn guitar with Mr Pike have been asked to bring their guitars with them to the BBQ tonight.  Looks like we are in for a treat.

Splash Park

KS1 had a great time on Wednesday in Maldon. A report from Gianni Garofalo and Mia Jerrom
“We went on a coach and when we got there we got changed to go in the splash park.  There were really big waterfalls and things that splashed you and you could run through.  We had to wait for everyone to get changed and then we had lunch.  After lunch we went on the Pirate ship and then every class got called to have an ice cream.  Then we came home on the coach on the motorway.  It was a brilliant day and it didn’t rain till we came back!”

Year 6 Production

The children need to be here at 6.30pm on Wednesday night for their final production which starts at 7pm There will be an interval in the middle and drinks will be available to purchase,I also need them on Monday until 5.30 so please send them in with a drink and a snack so that they don’t wilt! (Y6 and 15 choir members). Costumes by Monday please.

Leavers’ Mass
Y6 parents are invited to the school on Thursday afternoon at 1.30 for the Mass. The children will be staying afterwards for a party.

Colchester in Bloom

We were judged on Tuesday morning for the long awaited competition and we will find out next Tuesday evening how well we did.  The children stood very proudly in their areas and were able to explain to the judges very confidently what they had done. You would be amazed at their botanical knowledge... I was!

Library Help Needed!

Mrs Kury is leaving us next week after many years as a volunteer in the library. She has managed it single handily, keeping it well organised and user friendly. We will miss her very much and would like to thank her for all she has done.  We now need another willing volunteer to take over??!! It would only mean coming in once or twice a week to supervise library book selection etc. Please let me know if you can help.

Cricket

A huge thanks to Mr Peck for organising a brilliant afternoon of cricket at the Essex ground on Wednesday for Y5 & 6.  Thanks also to Mr Morgan and Mrs Dunne for umpiring.
