Dear Parent
As it’s Sports’ Day tomorrow the newsletter is going out today. It is going to be a glorious day for us all so please make sure the children come to school in their p.e. kit, they have lots of all day suncream on and they bring in a named water bottle and sunhat. Don’t forget there will not be any school dinners tomorrow...picnics only please.
Sports’ Day Strawberry Teas
This year we will be serving ‘Strawberry Teas’ between 11-12 and 1.30-2.30pm. A scone with jam and cream and a cup of tea or coffee for £2!
St Thomas More’s Mass
We had Mass on Wednesday to mark our feast day. My thanks to Fr Tony for celebrating it with us.
Changeover Day
Children will get to spend some time in their new classrooms on Monday 4th July.

Backs for the Future
A huge thank you to Mrs Oscar for speaking to the Y6s last week about the importance of looking after their backs. Those bags at secondary school get very heavy!
Message from Mrs Lavelle Colchester in Bloom - Schools Cataegory
St Thomas More's is a flurry of activity at the moment in preparation for the schools section of the "Colchester in Bloom Competition". Every year group has developed an area in readiness for the Judges who will visit the school on Tuesday the 5th of July. PTA volunteers will be helping out with tidying the school grounds for the event on Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th of June between 8.45am and 3.10pm on both days. If you have a few hours spare or more it would be great if you could come and help with the sweeping, weeding, litter collection etc. Contact Christine Lavelle on 01206 578231 for details or meet at the school reception on both days at 8.45.
PTA News
PTA Cocktail Party
There is certainly a lot of interest in the Cocktail Party scheduled to take place at the Minories Art Cafe in Colchester on Saturday the 16th of July. A table will be set up in the playground on Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th of June selling tickets. This event is open to parents and teachers of the school as well as their friends and family. A ticket costs £10 and includes entrance, food (baked potato and chilli or vegetable curry), a free cocktail and entertainment (live band). Please see members of the PTA for tickets.
The PTA BBQ will soon be upon us and we are asking for your help:
We will be running a bottle stall at the BBQ this year, so in exchange for a bottle of something for the stall, pupils can wear their own clothes to school on the day of the BBQ (Friday 8th July).
Please, do not bring bottles into school until the 8th July.
Then you can come to the BBQ and win them all back!
