Dear Parent
We finish today for the half term holiday and hopefully by the time we return the snow will have long gone! The children have been absolutely brilliant considering they have not had an outdoor play this week…I think the cake sales helped though!

Year 3 Mass
Thank you to Fr Tony and Y3 for a lovely Mass this morning. The theme for the Mass was ‘Thanksgiving’.

Admissions September 2012
The governors met yesterday to rank all admissions in accordance with our admission criteria.  Once again we are heavily oversubscribed and will not be able to take all catholic application.  Preference goes to practising Catholics therefore it is vitally important that you attend church regularly even if you have a sibling at the school.

Year 5 Visit
Year 5 was our first class to see the new exhibition at Firstsite and this is what they thought of it:
At Firstsite we got to take our sketch books and sketch anything we wanted to in the exhibition.  The exhibition was about a man who was helping the Earth but turning everyday objects into works of art.  He made the Apollo 13 scrubber out of tin foil and special tape that astronauts use so it doesn’t burn.  In class we have been trying to put objects together to say what we like’ Georgia Manning and Zac Kelley McEwen

Y5/6 Indoor Athletics
The children enjoyed a whole host of competitive events at Charter Hall on Thursday a report from:
‘We went over to Leisure World to do an Indoor Athletics tournament.  We sat down while the lady told us about the sports we were going to do and called out who was doing what. Kieran came first in vertical jumping and Alexis came second. Martin did a really good long jump and came first.  After half term we will find out where we came in the competition.’ Alexis Atmadjov and Kieran Runicles.

Maternity Cover
A big thank you to Mrs Reid and Ms Jones for covering so well in Year 5 for the last term and a half. We will miss them being around although we will still see them for occasional cover!  Mrs Saker will be returning to Year 6 Mr Peck to Year 5.  I would like to thank Mr Peck for doing such a great job with Year 6 in Mrs Saker’s absence.

Work Experience
Thank you to Charmaine, Will and Grace for working so hard here over the last two weeks.

Parking on the Zig Zags
If you are dropping off in the morning please use the Priory Street car park and once you have seen your child safely across the road and watched them walk into the school from the car park you can leave knowing you have not endangered other children.  Thank you for your support with this.
